Israel Recognizes Morocco’s Sovereignty over Western Sahara

The Royal Office issued, on the 17th of July 2023, a statement announcing that Morocco’s King Mohammed VI has received a letter from the Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu in which he announces that his country officially recognized Morocco’s sovereignty over Western Sahara.

In this letter, the Israeli Prime Minister indicated that his country’s position will be reflected in all relevant acts and documents of the Israeli Government.

In this regard, Netanyahu stressed that the decision would be transmitted to the United Nations, to regional and international organizations of which Israel is a member, and to all countries with which Israel maintains diplomatic relations.

In the same vein, the Israeli Prime Minister informed that Israel is positively examining the opening of a consulate in the city of Dakhla, as part of the implementation of this state decision.

The recognition of the sovereignty of Morocco over its Sahara is a result of a very favourable dynamic created by the Clairvoyant Vision of the King Mohammed VI that allowed in the recent years to achieve the American recognition and also

The support for autonomy by more than 15 European countries, including Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria. In the same vein, opening of 28 consulates of African, Arab and Latin American countries in the Saharan provinces.

Nevertheless, even with these huge milestone in the relationship with Israel, Morocco remains engage in his unwavering support to the Palestinian who are a priority and a national cause, in the same level as the Sahara issue. At the same level as the Sahara issue.
