MP of the National Coloured Congress, Fadiel Adams, has put into dispute a few key aspects of the testimonies given by members of the Investigative Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) which raised questions over his initial complaint as well conflicting versions of his statements and the mishandling of evidence that eventually became essential to an investigation that rocked the police.

Adams is the central figure in the Section 27 affidavit which was used to investigate and subsequently prosecute seven officials of the Criminal Intelligence.

“So, the Section 27 and the affidavit supplementary and Als is dealt with in that recording where they talk about the supplementary. So, what we want to do is we, when we play our clip, we want to present those affidavits so you can see that what’s being dictated is what we say are the affidavits. And then those for Adams, of course, to take whatever he wants to include from the recording. So, that’s really all that’s left in the Section 27 issue,” said Evidence Leader Lee Seegals-Ncube after she stated that she intends to conclude Adams’ testimony on Friday.

Adams testified that he made contact with suspended Police Minister, Senzo Mchunu, less than 24 hours after opening criminal cases against Crime Intelligence officials. Adams stated that he had relied on information from late General Andre Lincoln, who had informed him that officials had attempted to intercept crucial documents.

Adams has also testified that Brown Mogotsi played any role in assisting in opening criminal cases against senior Crime Intelligence officials.

Since Lincoln passed on last year Adams’ account cannot be confirmed independently. Adams has also not been able to explain why he did not present the documents relating to the alleged criminal cases to Parliament, despite the relevance to the allegations that were raised

He has also rejected that his criticism of the PKTT was never personal as he argued that his concerns had been centered around accountability as well as the unit.
