King Mohammed VI chaired, on Monday 13 0ctober 2025 in Nouaceur, the ceremony to present and launch the construction of the Safran Group’s aircraft engine industrial complex, a structuring project that reinforces Morocco’s vocation as a global strategic hub for the aeronautics industry.

This Complex, which will be located within the integrated industrial platform dedicated to the aeronautics and midparc business in Nouaceur, will include an assembly and testing plant for the Safran Group’s aircraft engines and another dedicated to the maintenance and repair of new-generation LEAP (Leading Edge Aviation Propulsion) aircraft engines.

Much more than an industrial investment, these two new high-performance, innovative and sustainable reference sites strengthen the relationship of excellence and the exceptional partnership between Safran and Morocco and demonstrate the King’s firm desire to raise the aerospace sector to the highest levels of technological competitiveness.

As the second largest production site for the LEAP-1A engine in the world, this project will anchor the Kingdom in the global value chain of aircraft engine manufacturers and will bring new equipment manufacturers into the national ecosystem in its wake, the minister noted, noting that the aeronautics industry is making its ability to create sustainable and qualified jobs for young people its first challenge.

It should be noted that King Mohammed VI presided over the signing ceremony of three agreements. The first is a memorandum of understanding, which sets out the commitments of the two partners, the State and the Safran group, for the installation of the French group’s aircraft engine assembly and testing plant. It was signed by R. Mezzour, Karim Zidane, Minister Delegate for Investment, Convergence and Evaluation of Public Policies, and O. Andriès. The second, a memorandum of understanding on the supply of renewable energy to Safran sites, was signed by Abdelouafi Laftit, Minister of the Interior, R. Mezzour, Mohamed Ouhmed, Secretary General of the Department of Energy Transition, O. Andriès, Youssef Ettazi, Managing Director of the Regional Multiservice Company of Casablanca-Settat, Fatima Guennouni, General Manager of the Regional Multiservice Company of Rabat-Salé-Kenitra, and Adil Khamis, Managing Director of Energie Eolienne du Maroc-Nareva. The third agreement, the agreement to set up the Safran Group’s aircraft engine assembly and testing plant in Midparc, was signed by Khalid Safir, Chief Executive Officer of the Caisse de Dépôt et de Gestion (CDG), Stéphane Cueille, President of Safran Aircraft Engines, Marouane Abdelati, Chief Executive Officer of MEDZ, and Hamid Benbrahim El Andaloussi. Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Midparc.

Subsequently, the LEAP-1A aircraft engine, a new generation engine that embeds the most advanced innovations in materials and manufacturing processes, was unveiled to the King. The Sovereign then posed for a souvenir photo with a group of young people undergoing training at the Institut des Métiers de l’Aéronautique (IMA) in Nouaceur, to join the future aircraft engine maintenance plant, before launching construction work on the Safran Group’s “Aircraft Engines” Industrial Complex.

The Safran Group, the world’s No. 1 manufacturer of short- and medium-haul aircraft engines and the world’s 3rd largest aeronautical player excluding aircraft manufacturers, is strengthening its presence in Morocco, where it has chosen to establish itself for 25 years, thus testifying to the rise in power of the Moroccan aeronautical base built thanks to the visionary vision and leadership of the King.
