In reference to the joint drone strikes from Israel and the United States on Iran have described their efforts as a means to “save the world” from the regime in Iran that the two countries believe to be building nuclear weapons of mass destruction.
“And if this regime, this terrorist regime, of the kind we’ve never seen in the world, if they get nuclear weapons and the means to deliver ballistic missiles, intercontinental ballistic missiles, they will threaten all of humanity. So we set out to protect ourselves, but in doing so we protect many others” said Netanyahu.
The Israeli Prime Minister has stated that if Iran is able to find the means to deliver the ballistic missiles, it could “threaten all of humanity”.
“Therefore, we decided to defend ourselves, but in doing so, we are defending many other countries as well. And I want to say a special thanks to our friend Donald Trump for joining us in this crucial effort to save the world” said Netanyahu.
The Israeli Prime Minister had visited a site of an Iranian missile strike in Jerusalem and condemned the leaders of Iran for intentionally targeting civilians. The visit was meant to highlight the contrasting military strategies between the two nations.
“When I stand here in a place that was bombarded by the terrorists in Tehran against innocent civilians, you see the difference. The tyrants of Tehran target civilians. We target the tyrants of Tehran to protect civilians.” said Netanyahu.
Netanyahu also expressed that “Operation Roaring Lion” which is the alliance Israel shares with the United States is part of a broader humanitarian effort as they claim that the leaders of Iran have chanted death threats to the United States and Israel.
Meanwhile, United States President Donald Trump’s aims with the war against Iran have remained largely vague.
Many officials from Trump’s administration have expressed a variety of different views and perspectives on the largest military operation conducted by the United States since their war against Iraq.
The initial reason for the attack was that the United States claimed that Tehran was building a nuclear weapons programme, however telephone interviews and a slew of social media posts have created a vague outlook on Trump’s intentions in the Middle East.
“An Iranian regime armed with long-range missiles and nuclear weapons would be an intolerable threat to the Middle East, but also to the American people,” said Trump in a press briefing on Monday.
Despite these claims regarding the war, Trump has not expressed how going to war with Iran would solve the overall problem once the military operation has been completed.
“The attack was so successful it knocked out most of the candidates… it’s not going to be anybody that we were thinking of because they’re all dead. Second or third place is dead.” Trump told ABC news on Sunday. Trump also claimed that “this was their last best chance to strike” without offering a clear explanation as to why.
