A new wave of attacks hit the city of Tehran on Friday, despite warnings from United States President Donald Trump that it should not repeat on the Iranian gas infrastructure which has now escalated tensions between the US-Israeli forces and Iran.
“The IDF has just begun a wave of strikes against the infrastructure of the Iranian terror regime in the heart of Tehran” said spokesperson of the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) Effie Defrin.
The conflict between the three nations has caused death to thousands of people and has been causing spikes in the global economy since 28 February when the US-Israeli forces launched their first attacks on Iran’s capital, due to what they believe as Iran facilitating a nuclear programme.
Countries such as the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain and Kuwait are currently trying to manage and deal with missile attacks in the early hours of the morning which has followed days of Iran dealing with missile strikes on their energy infrastructure which have been hurting the global market.
Iran responded to an Israeli attack on a major gas field as they had struck Qatar’s Ras Laffan Industrial Industry, as it constitutes and processes a fifth of the world’s liquefied natural gas, which could take up considerable years to repair and recover.
Despite Saudi Arabia being able to divert a certain portion of their exports in order to avoid the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, their Red Sea port had been attacked on Thursday.
“I told him: ‘Don’t do that, and he won’t do that,” said Trump as he briefed the media in his Oval Office. Nethanyahu had expressed that Israel had acted on their own accord in sending airstrikes on Iran’s South Pars gas field and affirmed that Trump did indeed advise against doing so.
Germany, Britain, Canada, France, Italy and Japan have all expressed that as the war persists with no clear ending in sight for the near future, that they will provide safe pathways through the Strait and have said that they will stabilise energy markets by working with producing nations in order to increase output.
