Dominican Republic Reiterates Recognition of Morocco’s Sovereignty Over Western Sahara.

The Dominican Republic’s Minister of External Relations M. Roberto Alvarez, wrote, 29 July 2023,  the letter on behalf of the country’s President Luis Abinader, in which He has affirmed the position of its country in support of Moroccan Sahara.

In this letter, the head of the Dominican Republic diplomacy has reiterated its “absolute” recognition of Morocco’s sovereignty over Western Sahara.

Furthermore, the Dominican Republic stressed that the country is also considering the opening of a consulate in the city of Dakhla.

Moreover, the Dominican Republic’s Minister of External Relations M. Roberto Alvarez also informed Moroccan counterpart that his country’s President Luis Abinader expressed the wish to pay a state visit to Morocco, in order to further strengthen political, commercial, and cooperation ties between the two countries.

The Dominican Republic’s decision to recognise the Moroccan sovereignty over Western Sahara crowns cordial and friendly bilateral relations with Morocco. This country was visited by Moroccan monarch. Similarly, an exchange of visits by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs took place between the two countries, making it possible to feed a deep political dialogue and a dynamic of concrete cooperation. The prospects for cooperation are all the more important in the future
