The Moroccan autonomy proposal of its Sahara continues to gain much more support from a variety of countries over the globe.
In this regard, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Commonwealth of Dominica, M. Vince Henderson reiterated, on April the 22th, 2024, his country’s support for the autonomy initiative, presented by the Kingdom in 2007, as the only credible, serious and realistic solution for the resolution of the dispute over the Moroccan Sahara.
Thus, it welcomed the efforts of the United Nations as the exclusive framework for reaching a realistic, practical and lasting solution to this regional dispute.
As a member of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), the Commonwealth of Dominica welcomed the opening of an OECS Embassy in Rabat (18 October 2018) and a Consulate General in Dakhla (31 March 2022), which will certainly represent a great opportunity to further consolidate bilateral exchanges between the Kingdom of Morocco and the six Eastern Caribbean States, the statement said.
On the other hand, Sierra Leone’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Timothy Musa Kabba, reiterated, Tuesday April the 23th, 2024 in Rabat, his country’s unwavering support for Morocco’s territorial integrity and the Moroccan Autonomy Initiative as the only “credible, serious and realistic” solution to the dispute over the Moroccan Sahara.
The official highlights the opening, in August 2021, of a Consulate General of Sierra Leone in Dakhla and its participation, on January 15, 2021, in the Ministerial Conference in Support of the Autonomy Initiative under the Sovereignty of Morocco, at the invitation of the Kingdom and the United States of America. In this regard, he expressed his full support for the process led by the United Nations to reach a realistic, practical and lasting solution to the question of the Moroccan Sahara.
