Trees of collaboration

The acting High Commissioner of Malaysia, HE Yap Wei Sin laid a fruitful foundation of reading and food security at Eerdracht Primary School on the 6th of March 2025.

The High Commission of Malaysia collaborated with Kgwebong Consulting and The National Library for their outreach program. The learners and educators  were enlightened about the people of Malaysia’s diverse  culture and their bilateral relations with South Africa.

In his speech, HE Yap Wei Sin said: “Trees symbolise students, with the right nourishment and care the trees will grow healthy, strong and bear fruits in the future. With the right values, knowledge and care for students, they will be successful and strong in years to come. i hope the books will play a role in naturing the leaders of tomorrow.”

The books and fruit trees were received by Deputy Principal Mr Gershan Greef on behalf of the school.

Sello Motsei from Kgwebong Consulting remided HE Yap Wei Sin that “this gesture is a legacy which will remain and strengthen the bilateral relations with South Africans for many generations. Most importantly, this outreach program is happening in the month of Ramadan.”

HE Yap Wei Sin planted fruitful trees with educators, learners and partners.
